Sheilah Sheldone is a child prodigy artist from Mombasa, Kenya.

SHEILAH SHELDONE PROFILE

Sheilah Sheldone is 14-year old Kenyan Artist. She is a great painter, a model, a poet, a singer, a budding actress, designer and Youtuber. She discovered her gift at age five, and now, at age 14, uses her art to help her family and to educate other girls like her. In 2018, Sheilah was invited by TESE Foundation in Davis California for a fundraising drive where she donated one of her Arts which was auctioned to raise funds for girls in Zimbabwe to go to school. During her stay in the USA, Sheilah visited several community schools in California teaching young children how to draw and paint. As a result of her USA trip, she received an award from the TESE Foundation nominating her as the “Youngest Lioness 2018”. This Award was presented to her in her school at Light International School, Mombasa-Kenya in the presence of her schoolmates and teachers. She was again privileged to receive an invitation by the UC Davis University of California to give public speaking during the commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr’s 50th Anniversary. Unfortunately, she didn’t attend because she was unable to raise funds for travelling and accommodation.Age 14,she has worked with NAT geo and Disney Africa in team Sayari as a field reporter.
Through her talent, Sheilah has met notable personalities among them the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta at State House Nairobi, and the President of the Republic of Uganda, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Mombasa who extended an invitation for Sheilah and her mother to visit him at his home for Easter celebration. Sheilah has appeared in numerous international and local media houses for show interviews – BBC News, Fox40, DW TV, Good Morning Sacramento, Citizen TV Kenya, and almost all the local TV stations, as well as feature in several Kenyan newspapers and magazines. Sheilah’s wish is to be invited to appear on international TV shows hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey respectively. She has painted their portraits which are graciously decorating the walls of her living room.

Awards

In 2021, Sheilah has received the Young, Gifted and Black Entrepreneurial Award 2021 Nina Simone Artistic Excellence award Artistry & Design Artistic Excellence. The award was presented to her in February in New York, which she collected in person.

2020: On 3rd January,2020, Sheilah received “Global Child Prodigy Award” from New Delhi, India. In the same year, Sheilah received an excellence honouree award as the Most Promising Talent in Kenya, presented to her in Nairobi by Doctor Ezekiel Mutua. Later on in 2020, Sheilah received a global child achievers award.
Towards the end of 2019, Sheilah was recognized by Coast Women Magazine for outstanding achievement as the “Young Empowered Girl in Coast Region”.

Other Achievements
On 3rd February 2020, Sheilah was invited at Mount Kenya Safari Club Hotel in Nanyuki, Kenya where she addressed over 100 visitors from the USA with her captivating speech that generated standing ovation and completely awed everyone present. She later gave each of them colourful lion painting.

In December 2019, she was invited by Heritage Kids Fashion to give motivational talks to girls and women in South Africa. Besides showcasing her talents, Sheilah is also the official Brand Ambassador for Skyward Express, Bonfire Adventures, and The Rubs Spa and Barber.

Sheilah is a child activist, she’s currently fighting child molestation. Despite the odds and discriminations surrounding rape in Africa. She is using her paintings to campaign for children’s rights. According to her recent YouTube video, Sheilah is seen criticizing the government for not doing anything in regards to child molestation. Her over-arch goal is to become the Children’s Ambassador to empower, inspire, and motivate all children.
Sheilah is the brainchild of a Civil Society Organization (CSO) known as Sheilah Sheldone Arts for Social Change CBO that is supported by the community members in Mombasa County to fulfil her dreams of helping children and youth including persons with disabilities in her community through creative work. The CBO activities are anchored on the four SDGs; Goal 4 – Quality Education; Goal 10 – Reduced Inequality; Goal 16 – Peace and Justice Strong Institutions; and Goal 17 – Partnerships to Achieve the Goals. The CBO is continuously applying for grants and projects funding. However, none has been forthcoming.

The Global Child Prodigy Award ceremony was held in New Delhi, India. This award is for Kenya,For the Phenomenal children who are working hard at their dreams.keep at it!

Sheilah Sheldone is brimming with creativity. As a creative(Painter, Designer and Model) she does not desist from emphasizing the importance of art in our increasing scientific world. Art is important because it encompasses all the developmental domains in child development. Art lends itself to physical development and the enhancement of fine and gross motor skills… Children learn about themselves and others through art activities. It really helps them build self-esteem.

Sheilah is not afraid to speak her mind on contentious issues in society. Campaigning for woman rights and equality.

Sheilah Sheldone is the current holder of the Little Miss Earth Kenya Crown. By God’s grace we brought this award home. This award is for Mombasa. Hard work, Humility and Talent all the way!

MOST PROMISING KIDS TALENT AWARD 2020

Sheilah Sheldone received an honoree award for Most Promising Kids Talent in Kenya for the year 2020. The award was presented to her in Nairobi by Dr. Ezekiel Mutua who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).
